چکیده
Abstract It is well known that the conventional couple-stress theory leaves spherical part of indeterminate. This indeterminacy problem recently resolved for fibrous composites subjected to either small or large deformations and containing a single family fibres resistant in bending (Soldatos Math. Mech. Solids, 2021, https://doi.org/10.1177/10812865211061595 ). However, remains still unsolved simpler cases where implied preference material direction not related fibre resistance, even simplest possible case polar interest linearly elastic isotropic. communication aims (i) show relevant virtual spin concept employed ) further applicable latter linear isotropic elasticity, (ii) demonstrate process which thus leads determination couple-stress, (iii) exemplify this by providing couple simple illustrative examples, (iv) specify discuss reason outlined method meets hurdle anisotropic elasticity due one more preferential directions, and, hence, (v) manner newly identified difficulty currently confronted, may be handled successfully.

The governing equations of three dimensional elasticity problems include the six Beltrami-Michell stress compatibility equations, the three differential equations of equilibrium, and the six material constitutive relations; and these are usually solved subject to the boundary conditions. The system of fifteen differential equations is usually difficult to solve, and simplified methods are usual...
